About JP Asbestos New Zealand's Trusted Asbestos Removal Specialists
8+ years experience. Licensed Class A & B. Worksafe & Sitesafe certified. Serving Auckland and all of New Zealand.
JP Asbestos is a New Zealand-licensed asbestos roof removal company with over 8 years of experience serving Auckland and nationwide. The company holds Class A and Class B asbestos removal licences issued under the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016, and is certified by WorkSafe NZ, Sitesafe, and Working at Heights.
Our Story
JP Asbestos was founded to address a straightforward but critical problem: hundreds of thousands of New Zealand homes many in Auckland's older suburbs like Grey Lynn, Ponsonby, Mt Eden, and Remuera still have asbestos roofing and cladding in place from when these materials were widely used in NZ construction right up until the late 1980s.
The founders of JP Asbestos came from a roofing and construction background and saw first-hand how many homeowners were either unaware their roof contained asbestos, or had no idea how to legally and safely remove it. The company was built specifically to close that gap: providing licensed, fully compliant asbestos removal alongside expert re-roofing, so Auckland homeowners could get a safe home and a great new roof in a single, stress-free process.
Today, JP Asbestos operates throughout Auckland and serves all of New Zealand. The team has removed asbestos from over 500 properties residential homes, commercial buildings, schools, and industrial sites and holds an unblemished safety and compliance record with WorkSafe New Zealand. Every member of our team is trained in asbestos handling under the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016, certified for Working at Heights, and carries the appropriate PPE and containment equipment on every job.
We believe asbestos removal doesn't need to be frightening or complicated for the homeowner. We handle the inspection, the testing, the paperwork, the removal, the certified disposal, and the new roof. You tell us what you need and we take it from there.
Did You Know?
Asbestos was commonly used in New Zealand roofing and cladding until the 1980s. Products like fibro cement sheets, Super Six corrugated sheets, and flat fibro board were installed on millions of homes and commercial buildings across Auckland and the rest of New Zealand. Many of these homes are now reaching the age where the asbestos is degrading and Auckland's high humidity accelerates this process significantly.
Our Licences & Certifications
Every job is backed by the correct licences and training required under NZ law.
WorkSafe NZ Class A Licence
Class A covers friable asbestos the most hazardous type. Our Class A licence means we can legally remove loose, crumbling, or powdery asbestos that cannot be safely handled without specialist equipment and full PPE.
WorkSafe NZ Class B Licence
Class B covers non-friable asbestos such as fibro cement roof sheets and wall cladding the most common type found in Auckland homes. Our Class B licence covers all standard residential and commercial asbestos roofing removal jobs in NZ.
Sitesafe Certified
Sitesafe certification demonstrates our commitment to worksite health and safety beyond the minimum legal requirements. Every JP Asbestos job site operates under a documented safe work method statement (SWMS) and a site-specific asbestos removal control plan.
